Machine learning, a sub-field of Artificial Intelligence, is the scientific study of algorithms and statistical models that computer systems use to perform a specific task without using explicit instructions, relying on patterns and inference instead. It is seen as a subset of artificial intelligence. It is a method of big data analysis used to design a model to learn the trends, findings and dependence between attributes and target variable without programming explicitly.
The department of Animal Sciences is looking far into a future by adopting a memory-optimized data warehouse which shall provide both persistence for real-time and historical data as well as the ability to query streaming data in a single system. This approach, we believe shall provide a solid foundation for further planned capacities in Machine learning , Deep learning and IoT for livestock value chain optimization and business intelligence for better livestock yields.
